At Asheville Sun Soo Martial Arts (formerly known as Asheville Sun Soo Tae Kwon Do), our dojang is a positive, inspiring and safe space to practice martial arts.
We are easy to find, prominently and conveniently located in the River Ridge Market Place at 800 Fairview Road, Suite D2 (next to Hamrick’s) in East Asheville. We offer abundant storefront parking and safe, curbside drop-off under weather-protected canopies right at the front door. In addition, we are following CDC guidelines for safety, including the use of masks, social distancing, and frequent disinfecting.
Our dojang encompasses over 10,000 square feet, making Asheville Sun Soo the largest, most contemporary, and most welcoming facility in Western North Carolina. Our inviting, accommodating customer service desk is located just inside the front doors, directed by a full-time Operations Manager for excellent, friendly and prompt customer service.
Our spacious, airy and warmly lit lobby provides comfortable seating immediately adjacent to our practice mat, offering families and friends the opportunity to support students by easily viewing classes.
Our practice area covers more than 7,000 square feet comprised of two large and two smaller fully matted floor spaces to serve a variety of instructional settings. High ceilings and mirrored walls contribute to the open and spacious learning environment. These practice areas feature industry-best equipment including, among other gear, various target pads, punching and kicking bags, flipping and falling pads, stretch bars, resistance bands, chin-up bars and blocker bats.
The south side of the dojang includes a children’s play room immediately adjacent to the practice mats with a large window facing the practice area, allowing parents to care for their youngest children in the playroom while watching their older kids participate in class. The east side includes comfortable changing rooms, two multi-stall restrooms, and water fountains, including one with a bottle refill feature.
