Professor Thabiti Sabahive performs several tasks here at Asheville Sun Soo Martial Arts. He is the Director of our After School Program, conducts all sessions of our Day Camps (Spring Break and Summer) for elementary-aged children, and is the Head Instructor of our in-house Danzan Ryu Jujitsu program. April 5-8, 2018, he attended the 2018 American Judo and Jujitsu Federation Convention. The AJJF is a worldwide organization of martial arts schools dedicated to the preservation and promulgation of the Danzan Ryu system of Jujitsu, and the convention is an annual gathering for Danzan Ryu Jujitsu practitioners of various levels.

This year’s gathering was held in Sacramento, CA. Activities included advanced training for senior instructors, classes in Jujitsu as well as other styles of martial arts, healing arts, and black belt exams.

Professor Sabahive was honored with the Professor Dick Rickerts Award, which is awarded for teaching excellence and facilitating character development through patience, tolerance, tenacity, energy, enthusiasm, compassion, and by setting an example as a mentor. In addition to this recognition, he was also promoted to 6th Dan in Danzan Ryu Jujitsu.

We are extremely proud of Professor Sabahive, and are appreciative of the skills and enthusiasm that he brings to all of his roles here at Asheville Sun Soo Martial Arts.
